Ex-Tamaqua man faces trial on indecent assault charges

A former Tamaqua man was bound over for trial in the next session of Schuylkill County Criminal Court on charges related to an alleged indecent assault. The charges were bound over following a preliminary hearing before District Judge Stephen Bayer, Tamaqua.

Michael Francis Ortlip, 24, who now uses a Pottsville address, will face trial on charges of indecent assault, indecent assault on a person younger than 16, indecent assault on a person less than 13 and corruption of minors. Ortlip was residing at a Pine Street address at the time of the alleged incidents. The charges were filed by Tamaqua Cpl. Henry Woods.Ortlip was released on $25,000 unsecured bail.A number of defendants appeared recently before Bayer on driving under the influence (DUI) charges, all waiving their rights to preliminary hearings.David Andersen Frangioudakis, 23, of of 49 E. Abbott St., Lansford, was arrested for DUI of a controlled substance on April 9 incident in Coaldale. He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a small amount of marijuana and driving without the required rear lights were filed by Coaldale Patrolman Charles Andrew Blesse. Blood tests indicate Frangioudakis had a .10 blood alcohol content (BAC) and tested positive for marijuana.He was released on his own recognizance.Thomas Charles Rowlands, 52, of 70 Whitetail Crossing Rd., Tamaqua, was charged with DUI, driving with an open container of alcohol and driving without the required headlights. The charges were filed by Tamaqua Patrolman Thomas Duarte following a May 30 incident.Rowlands was released on his own recognizance.Victor Barry Craig, 34, of 27 W. Grant St., McAdoo, was charged with DUI following a January 8 incident. The charges were filed by McAdoo Patrolman Robert Minnich.Craig was released on his own recognizance.Samantha Rose Carney, 23, of 304 Buffalo St., White Haven, faces charges of DUI, careless driving and hit and run of an unattended vehicle/property. The charges were filed by Tamaqua Patrolman Karl Harig following a May 12 accident.Carney was released on her own recognizance.Tracey L. Logan, 41, of 66 Main Blvd., Ringtown, was charged by Kline Township Patrolman Michael Becker following an April 23 incident. The charges include DUI, disregard of a traffic lane and careless driving.Logan was released on her own recognizance.Robert Owen Fisher, 21, of 33 E. 23rd St., Hazleton, was charged with DUI and exceeding the speed limit by McAdoo Patrolman Shawn Kistler. The charges stem from a May 29 incident.Fisher was released on his own recognizance.William P. Baronofsky, 49, of 311 N. Main St., Coppersburg, was charged with DUI, careless driving and driving without the required lights by Rush Township Patrolman Richard Bekesy. The charges stem from a May 13 incident.Baronofsky was released on his own recognizance.Defendants who had charges against them withdrawn include Evan James Greenawalt of Schuylkill Haven; Jordan Ryan Hoffman of New Ringgold; and Joseph P. Reno of Pine Grove.
