Driver facing DUI after Monroe crash

One of two drivers involved in a crash in Monroe County is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI). State police at Fern Ridge said the crash occurred about 2 a.m. on Monday, July 18.

Troopers said Robert Sciarrone, 55, of Brodheadsville, driving a 2000 Chrysler Voyager made turned left front of a 1993 Ford F150 pickup truck operated by Albert Guzman, 41, of Effort. The crash occurred in front of the Landmark building along SR209 in Chestnuthill Township.Troopers said Sciarrone suffered a head injury while Guzman sustained a left knee injury and complained pain. Guzman had three juveniles with him, troopers said, and one suffered a laceration near his left eyebrow and forehead area. All the injured were taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.Troopers said Sciarrone showed signs of intoxication and a blood test was administered at PMC. The DUI charge is pending the test results.Troopers were assisted at the scene by volunteers from the West End Fire Company and ambulance corps, Chestnuthill Township Fire Company and fire police.Both vehicles sustained heavy front end damage, troopers added.
