A Schuylkill County man lost over $11,000 in a sweepstakes scam.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Kenneth Townsend, 73, of 2224 Tonto Cove, Auburn, South Manheim Township, was contacted by Golden Nugget Sweepstakes Company that he had won $2.5 million, a Mercedes-Benz and $15,000 cash for out of pocket expenses.Townsend was required to send various amounts of money grams and money orders to claim his prizes. He never received the prizes but ended up sending and losing $11,042, troopers said.The investigation into the incident is continuing.
