Man dead, another injured in Polk Township accident

One man is dead and another seriously injured as the result of a violent two vehicle crash Friday night in Polk Township, Monroe County.

State police at Lehighton report Robert Adamson, 69, of Eagleville, Montgomery County, was killed in the accident and Robert Krapf, 32, of Coaldale, was seriously injured.According to troopers Adamson was operating his 2004 Dodge Ram pickup truck westbound on SR534 when his vehicle was struck by Krapf's 2005 Chevrolet Malibu at the intersection with Barry S. Drive. Adamson was thrown from his vehicle and was found lying adjacent to a corn field to the east of the accident scene.Adamson was pronounced dead at the scene by a Monroe County coroner. Krapf was treated at the scene then flown via PennStar helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, suffering head injuries. Both men were not wearing seatbelts. A state police reconstruction unit was called to the scene. The investigation into the crash is continuing.
