Fall baseballThe Anthracite Little League (Summit Hill and Nesquehoning) will once again hold a fall baseball program. Registration sessions have been scheduled for Monday, July 18, from 6-8 p.m. at the Nesquehoning Little League field and on Friday, July 22, from 6-8 p.m. at the Summit Hill Little League field. A registration fee will be required.For more information, parents can call (570) 645-5385.Food distributionThe Summit Hill Food Pantry distributes food to the needy in town on a monthly basis. Anyone is welcome to participate, regardless of denomination.The theme will be "Shake It Up, Kids Follow God's Recipes."LansfordVBS plannedThe annual Vacation Bible School sponsored by St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, will be held July 25-29. The theme will be "Discovery Canyon."Youths will participate in activities such as music, games, drama and crafts. Sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to noon all five days.Adult and teenage volunteer help is sought to help make the program a successful one.CoaldaleHall inducteeWalter Scheese, son of Helen Scheese of Coaldale and the late Bruno Scheese, was recently inducted into the New Jersey Coaches Hall of Fame.Walter is married to Carol Ann Bryant, formerly of Summit Hill. They live and teach in New Jersey.Walter coaches and teaches in the Lenape High School, near Stanhope, and Carol Ann teaches in Sparta.They have three children: Amy, SaraBeth and Michael, who are also teachers in the New Jersey area.
