Coaldale Borough is considering holding an annual community festival.

Councilman Andrew Girard on Tuesday broached the idea, and won council's approval to form an exploratory committee to see if enough business owners and organizations would be interested.Girard suggested the borough charge groups and businesses, say $100, to have a booth at the festival. Whatever they take in over that amount would be theirs to keep. The borough would use its share of the proceeds to improve the town.If enough organizations and businesses agree, the festival would be held next summer.In other matters Tuesday, Councilman Joseph Hnat said installing two lights on the pool road at the east end of the borough would cost a total of $1,020. Dave Kerstetter Electric, Nesquehoning, would do the work.Also, president Susan Solt asked secretary Louise Lill if anyone had applied for a permit to park large metal trash bins, commonly referred to as Dumpsters, on borough streets. Lill said no one had done so although there are bins in the borough.People are applying for the required yard sale permits, Lill said.
