Local singer will perform before Keith Urban concert

On Friday night, country superstar Keith Urban will be performing at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Opening for him is another top country performer, Jake Owen.

The pre-show concert, in the AT&T Pavilion, will be by local singer Nicole Donatone, who recently released her first CD.Donatone, employed by Penn's Peak Radio and who has been performing at various local carnivals and festivals, will be at the Pavilion from 5-7:15 p.m. You must have a ticket for the Keith Urban concert to attend Donatone's event."I'll be on stage straight through for two hours with the Nicole Donatone Show," she said.She added that she'll be doing some of the songs from her CD, entitled "If You Knew," as well as covers by such singers as Sugarland, Patsy Cline, Miranda Mambert, and LeAnn Rimes."It's exciting to be performing in Philadelphia," she said.Donatone has opened for such performers as Tracy Byrd, John Michael Montgomery, Sammy Kershaw, and Randy Travis.On August 25, she scheduled to open for the legendary Don Williams at Penn's Peak.On Sunday, you can see her show at the Bowmanstown-Parryville Lions Club Fair in Bowmanstown from 6-9 p.m.She also has dates at MusikFest in Bethlehem, the West End Fair in Gilbert, and the Palmerton Community Festival.Nicole grew up in a small rural town and is a true country girl at heart. Besides working at Penn's Peak Radio, where she hosts a weekly show, she loves working with her family at their deli, and always enjoyed feeding the animals at her grandparent's farm and riding four wheelers around the fields.At Penn's Peak Radio, she hosts the Sunday show "Round-up" from 10 a.m. to noon, which also airs from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.She started her singing career at the tender age of four when she would always carry around her mini recorder. Her fondest childhood memories include singing with her mother and belting out the Reba McEntire and Brooks and Dunn duet "If You See Him, If You See Her" as she and her father drove to the deli on Saturday mornings.Her parents were always supportive and involved in her many public singing opportunities. She has performed at many festivals, fairs, charity events, churches, nursing homes, weddings, school choir and singing competitions. She even won a new car in a Philadelphia contest called "Gimme the Mic."Nicole earned her degree at Northampton Community College, majoring in Radio/TV Communications and received the prestigious Marconi Award for Academic Excellence.
