The 13-year-old boy had the singular honor of detonating a dynamite charge which marked the formal groundbreaking of the Beltzville Dam. Peter Ord, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Ord, is a member of Troop 42 of the Boy Scouts of America, Palmerton. His father is general superintendent of the plants of the New Jersey Zinc Company, Palmerton. The detonation occurred at 11:35 a.m. on the 54-acre tract formerly owned by George Correll. Among the speakers was Col. E. P. Yates, Philadelphia District Engineer, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
