Annual St. Joseph Festival to be held for 77th year in Summit Hill

The 77th Annual St. Joseph Parish Festival, sponsored by St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 15-17, on the church grounds at the western end of Ludlow Street in that community.

The festival hours are 6-10 p.m. Friday and 5-10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, ending with the traditional huge fireworks display that closes the celebration.On Friday, entertainment will be provided by "A Dog's Life" from 7-10 o'clock.Saturday's activities will include a horseshoe tournament at 11 a.m., and Mass at 4 p.m, followed by the festival and music from 7-11 o'clock by "Shades of Gray."On Sunday, the St. Gabriel Procession will begin at 3:30 p.m., followed by benediction. Entertainment that evening will be provided from 6-10 o'clock by "Asking Andy."Throughout the three-day event, homemade foods will be available to festival-goers, soups, hot dogs, beef BBQ, turkey BBQ, hamburgers, French fries, pizza, bleenies, halupki, haluski, pirohy, sausage and peppers, wings, funnel cakes, nachos and cheese, waffles and ice cream, cake, meatball hoagies, blooming onions and fried Oreos.Activities will include kids' games, money, dice and currency wheels and a parish gift stand (household items). Rides will also be available for the children.The festival will feature raffles for home heat and gas cards and cash prizes, while once again the plant stand and theme basket Chinese auction will be featured.
