Trip for serversSt. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, will sponsor a free trip to the Scranton Yankees-Louiseville Bars game on Saturday, Aug. 6, for all altar servers and their parents. Information about the trip will be mailed to the families.MSC sisters honoredThree Missionary Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus who have local ties celebrated their anniversaries in the convent recently. They include:Sister M. Rosemary Balazek, who resides at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg, celebrated her 75th anniversary.Born Anna Balazek in Summit Hill, she is a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Egri) Balazek.She attended St. Michael School, Lansford, and entered the congregation on Jan. 21, 1935. She went on to a career as a registered nurse before retiring.Sister M. Agnes Flatley, a pastoral care minister who resides at St. John the Baptist Convent, Allentown, celebrated her 60th anniversary.She entered the congregation Sept. 10, 1949, and went on to become an elementary teacher who at one time was stationed at St. Michael School, Lansford (1984-88).Sister Joan Marie Swann, an assistant motherhouse coordinator, celebrated her 60th anniversary.She entered the congregation Sept. 10, 1949, and went on to serve as an elementary school teacher, including service at St. Michael School, Lansford (1956-57).CoaldaleCommunion SundayMorning Worship and The Lord's Supper will take place at 9 a.m. Sunday, July 3, at First Congregational Church, Coaldale.Church members will take part in services at St. Luke's-Miners Geriatric Department, Coaldale, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, and at 1:30 p.m. at MapleShade, Nesquehoning.Morning Worship will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday, July 10. Communion will be observed on the first Sunday of each month.VBS plannedThe Community Vacation Bible School will be held July 15-29 at the Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, Summit Hill.Daily sessions will start at 9 a.m.The school is designed for youths from age 3 through the sixth grade. Anyone is welcome to participate, regardless of denomination.The theme will be "Shake It Up, Kids Follow God's Recipes."Community yard saleSummit Hill Community Yard Sale will take place on Saturday, July 2, and feature a variety of homes to visit.
