Someone is feeding the rats in Weissport and it had better stop. "I found full family packs of spoiled chicken legs and pork chops all ripped up in the run," said councilman Don Frehulfer. "There were also several heads of lettuce or cabbage there, too." The run is a drainage ditch that takes storm water runoff from throughout the borough to the Lehigh River. Frehulfer, who said the food contributes to the rodent problem in the town, warned that anyone caught tossing food in the run will be cited under the garbage ordinance.
