Ten persons charged with criminal counts entered guilty pleas on Thursday in Carbon County court.

The pleas were accepted by Senior Judge Scott W. Naus, of Columbia County and specially presiding in Carbon. Those entering pleas included:Robert Thomas Fisher Jr., 27, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count each of driving under the influence (DUI) and fleeing or attempting to elude police. He was arrested on Feb. 26 by Palmerton police along Mauch Chunk Road. Given a test, the result was .17BAC.Naus accepted the plea but deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation (PSI) report.Gerald Charles Gardner, 46, of Sciota, pleaded to one count of DUI. He was arrested on Jan. 24 along SR209 in Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the result was .28BAC.Naus sentenced him to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one year license suspension, and get a D&A evaluation. The jail term will begin at 9 a.m. on July 2.Thomas A. Jankowski, 42, of Philadelphia, pleaded to one count of DUI. He was arrested on April 1 along the northeast extension of the turnpike by state police at Pocono. He refused to submit to a blood test and will lose his license for a year.Naus deferred sentencing to give Jankowski a chance to apply for placement in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP), or house arrest.Jorge Leonardo Lobos, 30, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of false identification to law enforcement. He was arrested on March 21, 2009, along SR209 in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton.Naus placed him on probation for a year and ordered he not possess any firearms and pay a fine of $300. He was given credit for two days spent in jail on the charge.Kathleen Barbara Long, 41, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of persistent disorderly conduct. A charge of intimidation of a witness was dropped. She was arrested for an incident on Feb. 23 in the office of District Judge Bruce Appleton. She allegedly made a threat to a witness in a case involving her son as the defendant.Naus placed her on probation for six months and ordered she pay a fine of $300, get both a drug and alcohol (D&A) and mental health evaluations and follow any recommendations for treatment.Jennifer Lisa Nieroda, 36, of Kunkletown, pleaded to one count of theft. She was arrested by state police at Lehighton for an incident on Nov. 7, 2010, in which she took an Apple iPhone belonging to Brittany Bailey. The incident occurred at Beltzville Bar & Grille in Towamensing Township.Naus placed her on probation for a year and ordered her pay a fine of $300. A restitution hearing will be held at a later date.Barry Lee Ohl, 34, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on April 7 by Palmerton police at his residence.Naus placed him on probation for six months and ordered he pay a fine of $300, and not possess any drugs or firearms.Karl William Rolappe, 47, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of DUI. He was arrested on Aug. 1, 2010, along SR248 in Palmerton. Given a test, the result was .26BAC.Naus sentenced him to serve 15 days to six months in jail, a fine of $500, one year license suspension, and get a D&A evaluation. He will serve the prison time on consecutive weekends beginning July 1 at 6 p.m.Joseph Thomas Ruzicka, 44, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of DUI. She was arrested on April 9 along Cherryville Rd., in Franklin Township. Given a test, the result was .21BAC.Naus deferred sentencing and ordered a PSI by the adult probation office.Joseph Allen Stepp, 33, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of accidents involving damage to an attended vehicle and two motor vehicle code violations. He was arrested on Jan. 24 along Delaware Avenue in Palmerton.Naus placed him on probation for a year and ordered he pay a fine of $100, make restitution of $503 and render three hours of community service per month while on probation. On the summary counts he was fined a total of $325 and costs.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
