The Rush Township Board of Supervisors and the Rush Township Bicentennial Committee held a tree planting ceremony outside their municipal building in honor of the 200th Anniversary of the founding of Rush Township, 1811-2011.

The tree, which was received from the Schuylkill Conservancy Bicentennial Heritage Tree Program, was part of a county-wide effort, in which all municipalities in Schuylkill County were given the opportunity to receive a tree in conjunction with Arbor Day.A plaque was also made to dedicate the tree. Wayne Postupack of Northeastern Hydro-Seeding also donated his services to assist with the planting, while the Rush Township Road Department supplied equipment.For more information concerning the township's bicentennial, call (570) 668-2938.
