More than 200 people attended the dedication services of a Freedom Tree, a dwarf Japanese red maple, on the grounds of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Lansford, The tree is dedicated "to Lt. Anthony R. Giannangeli and all Prisoners of War and Missing in Action." The ceremony was sponsored by the Panther Valley Chamber of Commerce, which purchased the tree. Present were the parents and daughter of Lt. Giannangeli. He has been missing since April 2, 1972 when his plane was struck by a missile in Laos.
