Multiple homes hit with stray bullets in W. Penn

Several homeowners living in The Pines at West Penn housing development in New Ringgold were surprised to discover multiple bullet holes in the sides of their homes after someone sprayed the area with bullets around 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Currently, only a few homes located on Revelation Drive and Faith Drive in the development suffered bullet-hole damage.Monday morning John Celia, of Faith Drive, noticed a small hole in his drywall about three feet above his television. Upon further investigation, Celia discovered an additional hole outside his home. Celia, who said he heard muffled gunshot sounds for about 25 minutes on Sunday, said the bullet might have hit him if it would have continued its trajectory instead of lodging in the wall. Two neighbors, who wish to remain anonymous, stated they called 911 after hearing gun shots for almost 30 minutes. They also pointed out that the known holes are all located on the southern sides of homes, stressing that the shooter must have shot from on or over the southern mountain that runs parallel to the development.Blue Mountain Drive, the closest road over the mountain, is located only 400 feet south of the development.West Penn Township Police are handling reports.
