With this year marking the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War, it's only fitting that the Carbon County Civil War Monument, located in Hazard Square in downtown Jim Thorpe next to the County Courthouse, is prepared for the occasion. Here, workmen repaint stonework on the base of the statue, which honors "the Brave Defenders of the Union from the County of Carbon."
