LCCC summer

Summer hours are in effect at Lehigh Carbon Community Campus Morgan Center in Tamaqua. The center will be open Mondays and Wednesdays, from 8 a.m. to 2:20 p.m.; and Thursdays, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.For more information, call (570) 668-6880.Seniors meetThe Tamaqua Seniors met on June 9 at the Tamaqua Community Center. There were 79 members present and two guests, Carol Baker and William Linkhorst. Invocation was given by Rose Valle entitled, "Beauty Lives in Springtime." Janene Holter was the guest speaker on crime prevention.The trip to Shady Maple is scheduled for Monday June 20. Hot dogs and sauerkraut are planned for July 4. President Jean Machamer conducted the business meeting and gave a reading. Secretary Joan Anne Garber gave her report. Meeting was closed by Betty Murphy and Joe Bednerick.Bingo and cards followed. Next meeting is June 16.Movies in the parkThe East End Park in Tamaqua will hold free movies in the park this summer. The first movie will be shown Monday June 20, at 8:30 p.m., and will be "Cars." The rain date is Tuesday June 21, at 8:30 p.m.Movies will be shown every other Monday through August.Participants are welcome to bring blankets and chairs.Contact Penny Gursky at (570) 668-9055 with any questions.Calvary EvangelicalCalvary Evangelical United Methodist Church, Catawissa and Valley roads, Lewistown Valley, has announced the following events schedule.On Sunday, June 19, at 9:15 a.m., Sunday School Classes for tiny tots to all senior adults; 10:25 a.m., praise and worship service. The Rev. Brian J. Reading will officiate. A special musical selection will be presented by the ladies in honor of all fathers for Father's Day.There will be no Sunday eve service this week.On Monday, June 20, at 6:30 p.m., there will be a continuing Bible study in the Book of Esther, presented by Christopher Hafer, theology student at Philadelphia Biblical University. The Bible study will be held at the Family Life Pavilion of Lewistown Valley Tabernacle, 614 Valley Road, Tamaqua,On Wednesday, June 22, at 7 p.m., an hour of praise and prayer will be held.
