Local nursing home residents proud to wave the U.S. colors

In celebration of yesterday's Flag Day, members of the Navy Club Auxiliary of Carbon County distributed flags to local nursing homes and care centers.

The distribution included 86 flags to The Summit nursing home in Lehighton, 48 to residents at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Geriatric Center in Coaldale and 125 to the Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.Staff and visitors at all three locations were also presented flags.To become a new member of the auxiliary, a person must supply a DD2-14 (discharge papers) and have a family member in the Navy, Coast Guard or Marines.
