A Carbon County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident in Lehigh County.

State police at Fogelsville said Dennis Roy Smale II, 39, of 325 Kennetta Lane, Palmerton, was stopped while operating a 2007 Subaru Impreza along SR22 westbound at SR309 in South Whitehall Township, about 12:47 a.m. on Friday, June 10, for a speeding violation.At the stop, Smale was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest. He was transported to the Lehigh County DUI Center for a blood test.Troopers said the DUI charge is pending the test results. Smale will be charged with speeding and careless driving.
