State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating a five-vehicle, rear-end type crash about 8 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, along SR61 in North Manheim Township, Schuylkill County.

Troopers said Jacob A. Bowman, 25, of Pottsville, was northbound in a 2010 Ford F150 pickup truck in the center lane while Kathleen M. Leibel, 54, of Pottsville, in a 2008 Ford Escape, Welles A. Vaupel, 39, of Auburn, in a 1995 Nissan Maxima, Laurie A. Sylvester, 44, of Schuylkill Haven, in a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox, and Roland L. Hottenstein III, 27, of Kutztown, in a 2000 Chevrolet 1500 truck, were all stopped due to a red light at University Drive.Troopers said Bowman failed to stop and struck the rear of Leibel's vehicle pushing it into Vaupel's vehicle and a chain-reaction occurred with all the remaining vehicles.No one was injured. Troopers said Bowman was cited for careless driving.Troopers also investigated a hit and run crash about 11 a.m. on May 3 in the parking lot of the Pottsville Plaza in Norwegian Township. Troopers said Tylor J. Donaldson, 20, of New Philadelphia, and Genevieve R. Buchanan, 82, of Saint Clair, were parked in the lot. Buchanan backed up out of her parking space and was then was pulling forward when Donaldson backed out of his space.Donaldson's 1991 Dodge Neon struck Buchanan's 2011 Volvo S60 on the right front bumper area. After impact Donaldson got out of his car, checked the other driver, then got back into his vehicle and left the scene.No one was injured. Troopers said Donaldson will be cited for careless driving.
