A family of six were displaced by a house fire near Slatington Saturday evening.

The fire occurred at about 5:30 p.m. at 7940 Furnace Road, Washington Township, Lehigh County.No injuries were reported. However, a dog and two to three cats were lost as a result of the fire.The American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley said the family is staying with relatives.The Red Cross provided meals, clothing and toiletry items to the family, and will continue to work with them.Further information on the fire was not available in time for today's publication.
