More than 300 citizens attended a meeting of Mauch Chunk Town Council and stated they want the trolley lines phased out in favor of good roads and motor buses. The meeting was called by E. J. Mulhearn, council president. A communication from the State Highway Department requested that town council assume the Trolley Company's obligation on Lehigh Avenue. It was explained that no taxpayer money will aid the trolley company, which now owes the borough over $5,700 for resurfacing Broadway.
