Armed robbery in Tamaqua

Tamaqua police, joined by officers from West Penn and Rush townships as well as Coaldale police, joined in a search for a suspect wanted in an alleged armed robbery in the one hundred block of West Rowe Street Saturday afternoon. Jesse Lincovich, 29, of 323 W. Broad St., Tamaqua, told officers he had cashed a check at We R Cigarettes, Mauch Chunk Street, and was walking home, when he was approached by a man brandishing a small, silver handgun. The suspect allegedly told Lincovich to "run his pockets," then made off with an Access card and $748 in cash. According to Lincovich, the suspect, reportedly wearing a white shirt with red or orange printing on it and jeans, then ran east from the scene towards a pair of iron steps which lead to Lafayette street. Lincovich was not injured in the alleged incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (570) 668-6100.
