June 7 is penny game at 11 a.m. and a Sunshine meeting afterward. June 8 is exercise at 10 a.m. and can bingo at 11 a.m. On June 9 blood pressure screenings will be held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. June 10 is exercise at 10 a.m. and Deal or No Deal at 11 a.m.The Farmer's Market Vouchers can be obtained with a photo ID from noon to 2 p.m. at the center. Lunch is served at 11:30 that day. This is the only day that vouchers can be obtained. June 14 is Birthday Bingo at 11 a.m. June 15 is exercise at 10 a.m. and also a trip to Heisler's after lunch. June 16 is horseshoes and bocci at 11 a.m. June 17 is shopping on the CCCT at 9:30 a.m. and exercise at 10 a.m.Summit HillSt. Paul LutheranThe Rev. Robert Brueckner, a retired pastor from Nescopeck, will be the guest minister at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, on Sunday, June 5. Burgess Gordon will officiate at both services.Democrats meetThe monthly meeting of the Jeffersonian Democratic Club, Summit Hill, was held last week in the borough hall. Nathan Halenar, president, chaired the session.The members discussed volunteering for community projects, including helping the Summit Hill Recreation Commission and Diligence Fire Company in the recent Stay-at-Home Festival.On Saturday, June 11, the club members will do a cleanup project in the cemetery areas on the eastern end of town. Volunteers will meet there at 9 a.m.Membership in the club is open to any registered Democrat.Food distributionThe Summit Hill Food Pantry distributes food to the needy in the community on a monthly basis. The rummage items can be dropped off at the Lansford Ambulance Hall every Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. through June 15.The committee is a nonprofit organization that holds free events for the children of the community throughout the year and depends on the vital support of the community.For more information on the committee, contact Renee Slakoper, (570) 249-4764.NesquehoningAttends conclaveStephen Higgins of town along with his daughter Karen Remaley of Lehighton returned home after spending several days attending the 158th Grand Conclave of the Grand Commandery of Knights of Templar of PA in Pittsburgh.The conclave opened with a divine service. They also attended the Division Commander's banquet, followed by the Grand Tournoi Ball. The next day they attended the Grand Commander's banquet.The speaker for the evening was Sir Knight David Goodwin, Right Eminent Deputy Grand Master of Grand Encampment of Knights Templar of the USA. Many reports were presented. Higgins is the chairman of the credentials committee and gave his report in the body of the open conclave. An election was held for new officers followed by a public installation. Higgins is a member of Packer Commandery #23 stationed in Jim Thorpe.Lions meetingThe Nesquehoning Lions Club will hold a very important meeting on Monday, June 9 at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is urged to attend to vote on the sale of the Lions' building.
