Youth group helps clean up Seek, Veterans Memorial Garden

Members of the youth group of the First Congregational Church of Coaldale have been helping to clean up the Seek and the Veterans Memorial Garden each spring for the past three years.

World War II Committee member William Gaddes explains the history of the memorials, which the Civil War, Spanish-American War, WW II, Korea, Vietnam, and Desert Storm/Enduring Freedom.He also talks about the Women's Memorial, and especially the Gold Star Mothers. "Coaldale has three times the national average of these beautiful ladies whose names are inscribed in our Gold Star Mother Walk of Honor," Gaddes said.The committee treats the young men and women to pizza and sodas as a thank you for their hard work.Here, the youths hold a Coaldale Lions Club banner celebrating the borough at the Veterans Memorial Garden on Third Street.From left are: Nathan Williams, Molly Williams, Abbey Whildin, Jeffrey Gangaware, Luke Strauch, Amy Corby, Brady Whildin and Lori Strauch.
