Seven area residents among 34 placed in probation program

Seven area residents were among 34 who were qualified by District Attorney James P. Goodman for the Accelerated Rehabilative Disposition (ARD) probation program, which is reserved for first offenders who committed a non-violent crime.

Senior Judge D. Michael Stine admitted them into the program and imposed conditions. If they complete the program successfully their record will be cleared. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.All were placed for a year, unless otherwise noted.Matthew D. Barnisky, 23, of 427 Hazel St., Tamaqua, charged by Tamaqua Patrolman Thomas Duarte, with two counts of criminal mischief and driving under the influence (DUI), was assessed $500 for the program, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA), $50 to Catastrophe fund, perform 10 hours community service and driver's license suspended for 30 days. He also must make restitution of $4,86.85 to Matthew Ruch for damage to his truck and $837.49 to Michael Kunkle.Stephanie Barron, 29, of 120 Stock St., Nesquehoning, charged by Tamaqua Patrolman Anthony Stanell, with criminal attempt to cash forged check of Shauna Barron, her sister at WE R Cigarette Store. The check was refused by Ed Paperman, owner of the store, according to the police report. Barron was assessed $350, pay $50 to CJEA, and perform 10 hours community service.Joan Edna Belford, 56, of Box 152, Lansford, charged by Trooper Arthur Wink with theft of scrap metal belonging to Timothy Charles Bosack, Pleasant Valley Road, East Brunswick Township; was assessed $350, pay $50 to CJEA, perform 10 hours community service, and make restitution of $28 to victim.Maria Estela Fernandez, 33, of 142 Bartonsville Avenue, Barnesville, charged by Pottsville Patrolman Joseph Krammes, with possession of drug paraphernalia, was assessed $350, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, and perform 10 hours of community service. On a charge of driving while her operating privileges were suspended was fined $200 and driving in the wrong lane fined $25 plus $100 costs.Edward C. Roeder, 62, of 199 Owl Creek Road, Tamaqua, charged by Tamaqua Patrolman Peter Wysochansky, with reckless endangering Terry Krench by pulling a gun on him during an argument; was assessed $350, pay $50 to CJEA, and perform 10 hours community service.Trudy I. Williams, 53, of 168 First St., Coaldale, charged by Coaldale Patrolman Scott Cramer, with DUI, was assessed $500, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, $50 to Catastrophe fund, enroll in alcohol highway safe driving school, perform 10 hours community service and license suspended 60 days.Richard C. On a charge of disregarding a traffic lane was fined $25, failing to notify police of an accident fined $25 and failing to wear seat belt fined $10 and costs.Tracy Jean Hughes, 43, Ashland, charged by Ashland Patrolman Michael O'Neill, with motor vehicle code violations altering an inspection sticker, failing to secure loads in vehicle and failing to have car insurance was assessed $350, pay $50 to CJEA, and perform 10 hours of community service. On the charge of failing to have car insurance must pay a fine of $300 plus $50 costs.Scott Guy Killian, 20, Llewellyn, Branch Township, charged by Patrolman Brian D.
