Tamaqua Area School District on forefront of technology

The Tamaqua Area High School and Middle School technology departments were given positive remarks after being visited by members of the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). Members Holly Jobe, 21st Century Teaching & Learning Program Manager, and Ralph Maltese, 21st Century Teaching & Learning Mentor, were given a detailed tour of the district's technology departments by Eric Lech, TASD Technology Integration Coach.

In addition to touring various classrooms, some other topics discussed during the visit involved email, network services, grade software, projectors, library, internet, Windows software, smart boards and the school district's pursuit of new technology.Maltese stated during his visit, "It is good to see that Tamaqua is on the forefront of technology."Other staff present during the visit were Dr. Evelyn Wassel, Schuylkill Intermediate Unit Technology Integration Mentor; Raymond Kinder, TASD Assistant Superintendent; Christopher Czapla, Tamaqua Middle School Principal; and Carla Keller, 7th Grade Language Arts Teacher.
