Man struck by tractor trailer in Tamaqua

A Tamaqua man was injured just before 5:30 a.m. this morning when he was struck by a tractor trailer in the 300 block of Pine Street (SR309). Norman McLaughlin of Pine Street, Tamaqua, apparently entered the truck's lane of travel to get to his parked car. He told police he saw the truck, a tractor trailer, but thought he had enough time.Traffic was backed up for 45 minutes as emergency responders cared for the victim and Tamaqua police remained on scene to investigate. McLaughlin was bleeding from a head wound he suffered when he struck the street, but was conscious and talking to paramedics. Fire police and fire companies closed the road and redirected traffic around the scene for the duration. The tractor trailer is owned by Brenntag Northeast Incorporated out of Reading.
