Two area residents lose summary appeals in Schuylkill County Court

Tamaqua and New Ringgold men were among seven persons who lost appeals in court from judgements found against them by district magistrates after receiving hearings before Judge Jacqueline Russell in the Schuylkill County Court.

Stephen M. Smolar, 38, of 250 E. Union St., had his appeal dismissed because he failed to appear for the hearing and the fine and cost imposed by the district judge stands.He was fined $150 plus $149 costs. A charge of harassment was brought by Tamaqua Patrolman Karl L. Harig, which took place against an 18 year old youth last Nov. 10 in 300 block on E. Union St.Barron J. Belsak, 38, of 200 Hughes St., New Ringgold, was adjudged guilty of failing to drive on the right side of the highway and the court fined him $25 plus $91.50 costs. He was cited by Trooper John T. Curtis when stopped on SR895 in Wayne Township last Oct. 29.Michael A. Zarillo, 23, of 59 East County Road, Sugarload, Luzerne County, lost his appeal because he failed to show up for the court hearing. He was ordered to pay the fine of $25 plus $103.50 cost imposed by the district judge. Zarillo was cited by Trooper Mark F. Barron for failing to stop at a stop sign on Peach Mountain Road which intersects with West Wade Road in New Castle Townshiip last Dec. 23.Donald Charles Wylam, 27, Saint Clair, was adjudged guilty of harassing Brenda Sheppo, Saint Clair, and was fined $50 plus $150 costs of prosecution. Wylam was cited by Saint Clair Patrolman Willilam M. Dempsey.Marybeth Ann Grant, 38, Pottsville, was adjudged guilty of failing to obey a traffic signal and was fined $25 plus $91.50 costs. Grant was cited by Hegins Township Patroman Beau J. Yarnish, last Dec. 13 on Fountain Road.Peggy Shantel Debnam, 29, Bear, Del., was adjudged guilty of a charge of failing to carry car insurance and was fined $300 plus $84.50 costs. Debnam was cited by Trooper Mark W. Knock on SR61 in North Manheim Township last Jan. 3.Julius C. Demetrius, V, 21, Kulpmont, wad adjudged guilty of a charge of failing to notify police of being involved in an accident on Route 61 in West Brunswick Township last December 12. He was fined $25 plus $57 costs. Demetrius was cited by Trooper Edward J. Sanchez.
