Road repairs were on the minds of members of Parryville Council on Tuesday.

Council president Mike Grant said he is applying for a grant to repair roads in the borough.Grant said that Water Street needs repairs and that other roads need patching done.Grant also noted that he is still waiting to hear who owns the property adjacent to the borough building before moving forward on the salt storage shed.Attorney Michael Greek, solicitor for the borough, said that his office is researching the deed and should have an answer soon. The deed dates back to 1914.The board voted to adopt a Local Service Tax which requires employers in the borough to collect $52 from their employees checks each year and council also discussed bidding on a new garbage contract by the end of the year. The Local Service Tax provides additional revenue for the borough to help pay for the costs of fire, ambulance and roads. All employers within the borough will be notified by the end of the year.The borough approved Kidder Township's request for fire police for the State Firemen's Convention. Grant noted that Parryville Fire Company is short-handed right now and may not have any fire police available.The board discussed adopting a local Taxpayer Bill of Rights and plan to adopt the resolution at the next meeting.The board also voted to have voting moved to the fire company because that building is better equipped to service the public. The borough building does not have restroom facilities while the fire company does.
