Hunsicker resigns as board vice-president

Panther Valley school director Bill Hunsicker on Thursday resigned from his post as vice-president.

Hunsicker, who has been on the board for close to four years, said after the meeting that he is busy, serving on four board committees, and needed to let go of the responsibilities of the vice-president post.During the meeting fellow school director R. Mickey Angst suggested that Hunsicker resigned because of something that occurred at a committee meeting held Monday.The board accepted Hunsicker's resignation from the office reluctantly school director Anthony DeMarco twice asked him if he was absolutely positive he wanted to quit the post and subsequently voted Anthony Pondish into the spot.In other matters Thursday, the board expelled two students, one in second grade and the other in fourth grade for 10 days for violating the district's weapons policy.The board also approved a one-year, $96,000 contract with Educare of PA Inc. for special education supervision. Superintendent Rose Mary Porembo said Educare serves 321 Panther Valley students.
