Cemetery (9:45 a.m.); Neff's Lutheran Cemetery (10:15 a.m.); 7th St. Catholic Church (10:45 a.m.); Union Cemetery at Delke's grave (11 a.m.); Friedens Cemetery (11:15 a.m.); Presbyterian Church Cemetery (11:45 a.m.), then back to the post home for dinner.On Monday, May 30, the post will be leaving the Post Home at 8 a.m., and the schedule of visiting cemeteries will be Catholic Cemetery, Washington St. Slatington (8:05 a.m.); Slatedale Cemetery (8:30 a.m.); Trout Creek - New Covered Bridge in Slatington (8:50 a.m.); then back to the post home to form the Parade in Slatington at 9:30 a.m.Post 16 will hold its 91st consecutive Memorial Day Parade and Services at the Fairview Cemetery in Slatington.The Main Speaker will be Joseph Garrera, executive director Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum.The parade will start at 10 a.m. from Main and Second streets, and proceed to the Fairview Cemetery. Services at the cemetery will start at 10:30 a.m.In case of inclement weather, the services will be held at the First Baptist Church, 509 Main St., Slatington, at 10:30 a.m.Any questions, contact Mark W. The summer program will start on Wednesday, June 29 at 10 a.m. and will continue for the next six Wednesdays. Please register children at the library if they wish to attend.The library is beginning its annual fundraising drive. Residents should have received a request in the mail. In the past few years, the library's funds have been seriously cut by the state and it relies on local donations to cover the cost of operating expenses. Residents are asked their help. Please read your letter and consider donating to the library. All donations are greatly appreciated. Please help keep the library a part of your community.Thank you to all the students and teachers on the North Team at the Northern Lehigh Middle School. The students participated in a "Coin War," a competition to see which home room could collect the most loose change. A total of $205 was collected and donated to the library. Home room #14 was the winner, and Drake Pristash, home room #14 and Parker Smith, home room #23, were the two largest contributors.Thank you to all those who participated in the third annual Bulldog Walk, and for its donation of $135 to the library. The walk was organized by Don and Pam Lerch. The 26 walkers paid $5 to participate, with the money going to the charity of the winner's choice.The walk took place in Walnutport, where the teams had to find the answers to 100 questions as they followed the route. The winning team consisted of Ron Heisler, Nancy Rehrig, Michael Lerch and Jenn Diefendahl.The library accepts book donations, with the exception of encyclopedias, text books, and Reader's Digest condensed books. There is always a used book sale in the library. The library is changing the price of sale books. Hardcover books will cost 50 cents, and paperbacks will cost 25 cents.Library hours are Monday and Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., closed Thursday and Sunday.
