Screams, cheers and unabashed fun resonated from within its confines.

Indeed, rides were in constant motion on the final day of the sixth annual Crusaders For A Cause spring carnival.The four-day event wrapped up on Sunday in the Palmerton Borough Park with a ride discount, always a popular activity with the children.Just ask Makayla Heil, 12, and Tayiah Snyder, 12, both of Palmerton, who said they come to the carnival for the rides and games.Across the park, Grace Schneider, 3, and Braden Strohl, 4, were in their own little world as they blew bubbles.Angela Kleppinger said the children enjoy all the carnival has to offer."We're glad the carnival comes around," Kleppinger said. "It gives the kids something to do."Andrew Schneider said he believes the carnival is a positive experience for all those who attend."It's something nice to do that's not the normal every week thing," Schneider said. "The kids get to ride the whole day for $15."Despite a slow start caused by rainy weather, the carnival was able to rebound some in its final two days, said Christina Obrecht, president of the organization."Though it wasn't as great of a turnout as we would have liked, today was pretty good," Obrecht said. "Saturday was a good day."Obrecht said some of the proceeds from this year's carnival will likely benefit Palmerton Relay For Life."A portion of it will go to Relay For Life," she said. "Hopefully, we'll have enough to be able to give them."The organization distributed the proceeds from last year's spring carnival to Palmerton Relay For Life ($1,000), and to the American Cancer Society ($600).Also, the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company was presented with two Stearns U.S. Coast Guard approved flotation jackets, along with two stainless steel carabineers all valued at about $600.Crusaders For A Cause was incorporated in May, 2009, under the Non-Profit Corporation Law of 1988 as amended, to help raise money for various charities.Those charities include Relay For Life/American Cancer Society, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, March of Dimes, and many other community causes or projects.For more information on Crusaders For A Cause, visit its website at
