Three involved in drug ring receive sentences

Three individuals involved in a meth operation that had tentacles in Carbon County Prison have been sentenced in federal court.

The men sold methamphetamine in the Lehigh Valley and in Carbon County that they apparently had imported from California. The FBI said in court records that some of the individuals are members of the Crips street gang and relocated in 2007 from California to the Lehigh Valley to import and sell drugs.Besides meth, the men also were involved in the trafficking of crack, powder cocaine, and marijuana, state records.Sentenced were:• Che Fluellen, 29, who will serve 14 years in federal prison and five years of supervised release.• Rashaad Toombs, 32, got a reduced sentence of 5 1/2 years in prison with credit for time spent behind bars since his rlease in 2008. He was originally arrested in Carbon County.• Assad Frazier, 26, was sentenced to 30 months in prison. Reportedly he had a minor role in the ring.Another defendant, Kwame Fluellen, who was arrested in Carbon back in 2008, will be sentenced at a later date.Originally, Kwam Fluellen, Toombs, and Malik Frazier, who is the brother of Assad Frazier, were arrested and charged with involvement in a $1 million meth ring operating in Carbon, Northampton, and Lehigh counties.At the time, Kwame Fluellen and Toombs had addresses of Atlanta, Ga., while Frazier listed an Allentown address.The trio was nabbed as a result of an investigation by the Pa. Office of Attorney General's Bureau of Narcotics.On Oct. 14, 2008, narcotics agents executed a search warrant at a Palmerton resident and seized about 1 1/2 pounds of crystal meth.Additional undercover work resulted in buys in Hellertown, resulting in the additional arrests.Court records say the Fluellen brothers along with Malik Frazier tried to operate the drug ring from the Carbon County Prison after their arrests by speaking in code with associates and relatives.Che Fluellen had been nabbed in Georgia after fleeing from the area.
