Lansford driver facing charges

Coaldale police have charged a Lansford man with driving under the influence (DUI) and drug charges stemming from an April 9 traffic stop.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Officer Charles Andrew Blesse, David Frangioudakis, 22, of 49 E. Abbott St., was driving his 1996 Pontiac Sunfire on SR209 when he was stopped by Blesse at 12 minutes after midnight because his license plate light was not working.As Blesse spoke with Frangioudakis, he noted a strong smell of alcohol on the man's breath. Frangioudakis told Blesse he had been drinking at about 10 a.m. the previous morning, but had not had any alcohol since then.Frangioudakis failed field sobriety tests and when Blesse patted him down after arresting him, found a glass pipe with residue and the marijuana in his pants pockets.Blesse charged Frangioudakis with three counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, and one count each of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana, all misdemeanors.He was also cited for failing to have properly operating vehicle lights.Frangioudakis' blood alcohol content was 0.10 percent. The drunken driving threshold is 0.08 percent. he also tested positive for marijuana.
