Let's set the record straight

Dear Editor:

To Mr. Joseph Stearns, chairmanSchuylkill County Republican PartyI have recently become aware of your comments on April 29, 2010, regarding my mother's (Frances E. Adams) "Spotty" attendance at West Penn polls on recent elections. My mother's support for the Republican party has been outstanding, in fact, I was present at an award dinner where she was honored for her service to the Republican party.Politics is one of her passions and she has worked diligently many, many years putting up signs for Republican party candidates, hold great rallies, spending long hours at the polls greeting people and handing out Republican candidate information.Yes, Mr. Stearns, you are correct, she has missed a few days working at the polls greeting people and handing out Republican candidate information.Yes, Mr. Stearns, your are correct, she has missed a few days working at the polls, one day my father died, another one was when she just got home from the hospital after congestive heart failure. I was at home nursing her back to health hoping to get her better so she could go to the polls as she LOVED every moment she was there.I believe these are excusable absences. When you get to be 94-1/2 years old, I would hope that you are as devoted to the Republican party as my wonderful mother.Shame on you Mr. Stearns.Shame on you!Kay H. Adams SmithLoving daughter
