Beaver Meadows Police Chief Michael Morresi said Ryan Yackanicz, of Pine St., Beaver Meadows, was arrested Wednesday, May 11, about 11 a.m. at his home and charged with robbery, attempted robbery and terroristic threats. He was arraigned before District Judge Joseph Homanko, of Weatherly. He was committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning after failing to post $50,000 straight cash bail set by Homanko.According to Morresi, Yackanicz allegedly walked into the J&N Exxon service center, located along SR93, on May 3 about 9:45 p.m. wearing a ski mask and sunglasses and demanded money. The suspect then said to the clerk, "Give me all the money and nobody gets hurt." The clerk refused and he said it a second time.At this point a vehicle pulled into the center lot and Yackanicz fled the area on foot.Morresi also reported there was another incident involving Yackanicz that occurred on April 26 at the store. In that incident Yackanicz got into an argument with the store owner, Jihad Abulrahman, and threw a Slim Jim at him and left. Yackanicz was interviewed for that incident and was cited for disorderly conduct.Morresi reviewed surveillance tapes of the incident and put together a photo lineup of six males, all around the same age and likeness. The clerk reviewed the photo lineup and identified Yackanicz as the person who attempted to rob the store.
