Brittany Lynn Semmel, 15-year-old daughter of Kimberly and Michael Semmel of Lehighton, recently auditioned and was accepted into the Joffrey Summer intensive.

The Joffrey School offers advanced students ages 15-21 a one- to three-week, in-depth ballet experience.Daily technique will be offered in ballet, pointe, variations, and new choreography. Students attending this program will be considered for enrollment in the Joffrey Ballet school's yearlong program in New York City. Emphasis will also be placed upon body conditioning.The goal is to train young dancers in the classical ballet technique, artistry and versatility required for an active career in a professional company. The Trainee Program frequently provides disciplined dancers with the opportunity to perform in professional arenas while continuing their training. The Trainee Program demands a deep commitment on the part of the students.Brittany is a dance major and will be a junior at Lehigh Valley Charter school for the performing arts in Bethlehem.A student of Dance with Kim for the past 13 years, she is a member of the award winning IMPACT Dance Team. She has studied at Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, The Ballet guild and De Sales University.She is currently a print and video model for Curtain Call costume company and will be modeling for the United Dance Merchants of America in New York.Brittany is a student teacher at Dance with Kim and plans to dance professionally.Her paternal grandparents are Carole and Richard Semmel and great-grandmother is Betty Kreitz of Lehighton. Paternal grandparents are Al Mertz of McAdoo, and Donna and Terry Graver; and great-grandparents are Virginia and Joe O'Brien of Lehighton.
