A Community Call for Help

A sense of community in today's economy is essential, in that there are many families going hungry. Salem United Church of Christ, Route 209 and Gilbert Road, Gilbert, has provided West End Missions the facilities to provide meals twice a week for the hungry.Salem UCC has had a food stand at the West End Fair for over 50 years and was the first church food stand at the fair. Due to less church membership, it has become difficult to staff the fair stand with enough people for all the shifts required. This year they are asking for volunteers from the community to help fill these shifts. If you are willing to volunteer your services, any of your time would be appreciated. They are especially in need of help for the following shifts: Sunday, Aug. 28, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 31, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 3, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Aug. 28 to Sept. 3, 4-7 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. There is no previous experience required.Their ability as a community-minded church will depend on you as a volunteer to continue services to the community. If you are able to help, call the church office at (610) 681-4733 on Monday, Wednesday or Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to sign up for a shift.PV Elementary PTOThe monthly PTO meeting will be held on Thursday, May 19 at 4 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
