Grandson of area residents attains Eagle Scout rank

Jason Swartz of Dillsburg recently earned the highest rank a boy can earn in Boy Scouts.

On March 27, the Northern York High School freshmen became an Eagle Scout during his Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony, held at the Monaghan Presbyterian Church in Dillsburg.He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 203.Swartz obtained the rank of Eagle Scout on Jan. 21, after completing numerous requirements, including a community service project that involved the installation of a memorial garden and lighted flag pole at Monaghan Presbyterian Church.During the Court of Honor, Dan Heller, Jason's Eagle Mentor, served as the Master of Ceremonies. Guest speakers included Sen. Pat Vance and various members of Troop 203.Swartz is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Troy Swartz of Dillsburg, and the grandson of Cleo Balliet and the late Roger Balliet of Lehighton and Mr. and Mrs. Delano Swartz of Palmerton.
