Special Olympics annual competition

Special Olympics PA Carbon County is hosting its annual athletics competition on Saturday, May 21, at the Jim Thorpe Area High School Stadium.The competition will begin at 11 a.m. A lot of volunteers are needed to help run this event successfully. Some of the areas where volunteers are needed for are registration, scorers table, runners for scores, set-up/clean-up, measurers, timers, athlete escorts, high-fivers, equipment retrievers and so on.Volunteers should arrive about 8:30 a.m. to allow enough time to prepare before the athletes arrive.Relay For LifeRelay For Life of Palmerton and Surrounding Areas will be held from 10 a.m. May 21 through 10 a.m. May 22 at the Palmerton Area High School stadium.Spring CarnivalCrusaders For a Cause will hold its spring carnival Thursday, May 19 through Sunday, May 22 in the borough park.Lions Club to meetPalmerton Lions Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, June 6, at the Blue Mountain Community Service Center. Region Chairperson Liz McElwee will review the Community Needs Assessment with members.
