Four first time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition (ARD) probation program on Tuesday by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record is wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete the program, or are revoked from it, the commonwealth reserves the right to prosecute them on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.Those placed were:John Arnold, 52, of Lehighton, was placed for four months on a charge of possession of marijuana. He was arrested on Nov. 10, 2010, at his home.He was ordered to pay $350 for the cost of the program, get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment and render 15 hours of community service.Autumn Lian Strohl, 21, of Allentown, was placed for a year on a charge of forgery. She was arrested on June 27, 2010, by Mahoning Township police for an incident involving Maria T. Braskie, as the victim and the forging of a prescription.She was ordered to pay $350 for the cost of the program, get a D&A evaluation and render 15 hours of community service.Ricky Gene Andrew, 28, of Lehighton, was placed for a year on a driving under the influence (DUI) charge. He was arrested on Jan. 23 along Fireline Road in Lower Towamensing Township, by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the result was .12BAC.He was ordered to pay $400 for the cost of the program, get a D&A evaluation and license suspended for 30 days.Karrie M. Williams, 32, of Lehighton, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arrested on Aug. 18, 2010, at her home in Franklin Township.She was ordered to pay $350 for the program, get a D&A evaluation and render 15 hours of community service.Each defendant must also pay all court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
