Crusaders For A Cause to hold carnival

Four days of fun-packed activities are on tap next week in Palmerton.

The sixth annual Crusaders For A Cause Carnival will be held May 19-22 in the borough park.The carnival will take place from 6-10 p.m. May 19; 6-11 May 20, 4-11 May 21 and 2-7 May 22.May 19 and May 22 are Kids Day, and will feature a ride discount. Entertainment will be provided by Shake Rattle and Soul, which will perform from 7-10 p.m. May 20; and Shakey Ground, which will hit the stage from 7-10 p.m. May 21. There will be food, games and crafts each day of the carnival.Christina Obrecht, president of the organization, said the carnival aims to raise money for worthwhile causes."We hope to make about $4,000 profit, and will disperse the money throughout different worthy causes," Obrecht said." Lets just hope the weather cooperates."Obrecht said some of the proceeds from this year's carnival will likely benefit Palmerton Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society.The organization distributed the proceeds from last year's spring carnival to Palmerton Relay For Life ($1,000), and to the American Cancer Society ($600).Also, the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company was presented with two Stearns U.S. Coast Guard approved flotation jackets, along with two stainless steel carabineers all valued at about $600.Crusaders For A Cause was incorporated in May, 2009, under the Non-Profit Corporation Law of 1988 as amended, to help raise money for various charities.Those charities include Relay For Life/American Cancer Society, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, March of Dimes, and many other community causes or projects.For more information on Crusaders For A Cause, visit its website at
