Its two stations are on the Effort-Gilbert Road and on Old Route 115 in Ross Township.Part of the impetus to begin this service was when polio struck families in the area in the mid 1950s and no such service was available.Today, between the two stations, approximately 3,500 calls are responded to annually.Family Fun NightSt. Peter's UMC will hold Family Fun Night on May 22, weather permitting. A campfire and singing of songs will be included.The evening begins at 5 p.m., with everyone asked to bring a covered dish, dessert or beverage to share.Organ Donor AwarenessOn Friday, June 24, from noon to 4 p.m., Kinsley's ShopRite in Brodheadsville will host its annual Donor Awareness Day, featuring celebrity baggers such as Mario Scavello, Mike Carroll, Sheriff Todd Martin, Rosemary Brown, Therese Merli and more.A Gift of Life representative will be available to answer questions about organ donation and living donation. The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be on site accepting blood donations. Free activities, such as a moon bounce, balloon animals, face painting, organ donor bracelets and pins, food and more will be part of the day.Andy the Armadillo from Texas Roadhouse Steakhouse will be giving out gift coupons for kids' meals.Grandparents againBob and Jan Decker welcomed grandson Tayte Belstra.Memorial serviceThe Monroe County Firemen's Association will conduct its 16th Annual Memorial Service at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 15, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Fish Hill Road in Tannersville.This year firefighters and support team members from Monroe County Fire Companies who passed away in the 2010 calendar year will be memorialized. The service will be conducted by chaplains from the fire companies and includes a candle ceremony and tolling of the bell for the fallen, a selection by the choir of St. Paul's Church, an organ solo and a bag piper.For more information contact the Rev.
