Palmerton Junior, Senior High to present Spring Concert on May 10

The Palmerton Area High School and Junior High School are presenting the annual Spring Concert Tuesday, May 10, at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Choruses, bands, and soloists will be featured, performing a great variety of musical styles.

The junior high chorus and instrumental students selections will include "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts, "Firework" by Katy Perry, and Never Shout Never's "Look on the Bright Side."The vocal side of the high school portion of the program will include "Colors of the Wind from Pocahontas," Leonard Cohen's stirring "Hallelujah," Lady Gaga's "Telephone," "Jar of Hearts" by Christina Perri, "Gethsemane" from Jesus Christ Superstar, "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserables, and "In His Eyes" from Jekyll and Hyde.Senior Billy Heinick will be a featured instrumental soloist, performing "Morceau Symphonique Op. 88" by Alexander Guilmant, a standard of the trombone repertoire.The high school jazz band will play "The Girl from Ipanema," "Norwegian Wood," "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes," and "All the Things You Are."The high school concert band will conclude the program with selections including "Hungarian Dance No. 5" by Joannes Brahms, "Three Czech Folk Songs," "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Karl King's Big Four March," and an arrangement entitled "Disco Lives" featuring some of the biggest hits of the Disco era.The concert is free and open to the public. Donations are accepted.
