The Shepherd House food pantry at Ebenezer E.C. Church will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 14. Recipients must reside within the Jim Thorpe Area School District. The pantry is located at 441 Center Ave., Jim Thorpe. For more information call (570) 325-2855.Nonperishable donations are needed and accepted at the bin in the foyer of the Jim Thorpe Market. Many working families are struggling to provide for their families.Appreciation dinnerSt. John's Lutheran Church, South Ave., will hold a congregational appreciation dinner on Sunday, May 29, following the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Members of the parish that are planning to attend, should sign up at the church or call Walt Schlenner, (570) 325-8342, by May 22.Bishop Sam Zeiser, a former member of the church, will be in attendance.Booster ClubThe Jim Thorpe Olympian Football Booster Club will meet this evening at 6 o'clock, in the commons area of the high school. The club is open to family members of the football team, as well as friends. Plans for the new fall season are now being made and parent input is needed.
