Response to "Darwin's fantastic theory"

Dear Editor:

I am including four definitions from Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary Tenth Edition (1) Evolution is defined as a theory. (2) Creationism is defined as a theory. (3) Theory itself is defined as an analysis of facts. (4) Faith is defined as a firm belief in something for which there is no proof. There is no absolute empirical proof for either evolution or creationism. It really comes down to faith - faith in evolution or faith in creationism. So pick your faith. My faith is in creationism.Unfortunately, the theory of creationism is barred from public schools. Since only the theory of evolution is taught, students don't get to pick.Evolution: "a theory that various types of animals and plants have their origin in other pre-existing types and that the distinguishable differences are due to the modification in successive generations."Creationism: "a theory holding that matter, the various forms of life, and the world were created by God out of nothing and usually in the way described by Genesis, compare evolution."Theory: "an analysis of a set of facts in their relation to one another: abstract thought: speculation."Faith: "a firm belief in something for which there is no proof: something that is believed especially with strong conviction."Steve Boyd,Lehighton
