Senate Committee approves Argall bill to protect property owners

HARRISBURG - The Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee passed legislation today sponsored by Senator David G. Argall (R-29) that would encourage property owners to make land and water areas available to the public for recreational purposes.

Argall's legislation would limit property owners' liability when they open their land for recreational activities."This legislation seeks to open more land in Pennsylvania to the public, while protecting property owners," Argall said, "There are so many places to explore across this state, and this legislation represents a bipartisan commitment to making Pennsylvania more accessible for all."Senate Bill 469 will allow property owners to open their properties to individuals for, but not limited to, walking, jogging, bicycling, exercising, horseback riding on nature trails, hunting, fishing, swimming, boating, camping, picnicking, hiking, pleasure driving, nature study, water skiing, cave exploration and enjoying sites of historical or scenic significance. -Senate Bill 469 now moves to the Senate Floor for consideration.
