N.Y. resident cited in Monroe

A New York resident was cited for dumping garbage at a Monroe County site. Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on the incident and a drunk driving arrest.

Police said on April 5 they received a report from Lake Naomi security in Tobyhanna, about four bags of garbage being dumped in the area. On April 16 police received another report from security about six more bags of garbage being found in the area.As the result of an investigation it was determined that Willie Pereda, 21, of Bronx, dumped the garbage bags. Police said Pereda had lived in Lake Naomi but moved back to the Bronx. He was cited for scattering rubbish, police said.Police reported a Pocono Lake resident is facing charges of driving under the influence (DUI) and theft.Police said on May 1 about 1 a.m. officers were called to A Pocono Country Place for an intoxicated driver. Upon arrival the driver was identified as Jorge Rodriguez, 52. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody for DUI.Police said Rodriguez also matched the description of a person involved in an earlier theft incident which they responded to at 12:25 a.m.Through the course of an investigation it was determined that Rodriguez was the suspect in the stolen item which was recovered from his vehicle.Police said the DUI charge is pending blood test results. The theft charge is also pending.
