Man fatally shot by troopers at alleged drug house

A white male was fatally shot this morning by state troopers after they entered a Schuylkill County home that was identified as a possible manufacturing facility for methamphetamines.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the shooting occurred at a residence at 6 Blue Mountain Heights in Wayne Township.According to troopers information was developed through various police operations that the residence was the location of drug manufacturing. A search warrant was obtained and troopers went to the home about 6:05 a.m. today.Members of the state police Special Emergency Response Team assisted field troopers in the serving of the warrant due to the potential of a high risk of a violent encounter.Troopers made entry to the home after having announced their identity and purpose.Upon entering the residence troopers encountered a white male brandishing a long gun and threatening troopers. The male was shot by troopers.A tactical medic that accompanied the entry team was summoned to provide immediate medical aid but the male died, troopers said. His identity has not been released as of presstime today. Troopers said the name of the person will be released upon proper notifications.The entry team discovered a working methampetamine production laboratory in the residence. State police Clandestine Laboratory Response Team assisted in the operation and is assisting in the search and proper dismantling and collection of items of evidence.Further details of the incident will be released upon completion of the investigation, troopers said.
